Grace is the overflowing favor of God, and you can always count on it being available to draw upon as needed. \u201c. . . in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses\u201d\u2014 that is where our patience is tested (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+6:4\">2 Corinthians 6:4<\/a>). Are you failing to rely on the grace of God there? Are you saying to yourself, \u201cOh well, I won\u2019t count this time\u201d? It is not a question of praying and asking God to help you\u2014 it is taking the grace of God <em>now<\/em>. We tend to make prayer the preparation for our service, yet it is never that in the Bible. Prayer is the practice of drawing on the grace of God. Don\u2019t say, \u201cI will endure this until I can get away and pray.\u201d Pray <em>now<\/em> \u2014 draw on the grace of God in your moment of need. Prayer is the most normal and useful thing; it is not simply a reflex action of your devotion to God. We are very slow to learn to draw on God\u2019s grace through prayer.<\/section>\n<p>\u201c. . . in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors . . .\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+6:5\">2 Corinthians 6:5<\/a>)\u2014 in all these things, display in your life a drawing on the grace of God, which will show evidence to yourself and to others that you are a miracle of His. Draw on His grace now, not later. The primary word in the spiritual vocabulary is <em>now<\/em>. Let circumstances take you where they will, but keep drawing on the grace of God in whatever condition you may find yourself. One of the greatest proofs that you are drawing on the grace of God is that you can be totally humiliated before others without displaying even the slightest trace of anything but His grace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c. . . having nothing . . . .\u201d Never hold anything in reserve. Pour yourself out, giving the best that you have, and always be poor. Never be diplomatic and careful with the treasure God gives you. \u201c. . . and yet possessing all things\u201d\u2014 this is poverty triumphant (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+6:10\">2 Corinthians 6:10<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>_________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>July 26, 2013<\/p>\n<p>Lord, how do I live this lesson out? How do I rely on You for everything? In very difficult times, this is my natural response, especially when I have no answers or solutions of my own. But how do I rely on You all the time, for everything, even when I am living in victory and success?<\/p>\n<p>And God says\u2026\u201d<i>The grace you had yesterday will not be sufficient for today. Grace is the overflowing favor of God, and you can always count on it being available to draw upon as needed\u201d\u2026Every day has trouble, and distresses of its own; you need My grace, love, assurance and direction every day. Seek Me first thing in the morning and face the day knowing that I am your God and I go before you, making your way.
