God has given His commands to us, but we pay no attention to them\u2014 not because of willful disobedience, but because we do not truly love and respect Him. \u201cIf you love Me, keep My commandments\u201d (<a title=\"John 14:15\" href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+14:15\" target=\"_blank\">John 14:15<\/a>). Once we realize we have constantly been showing disrespect to God, we will be filled with shame and humiliation for ignoring Him.\u201cYou speak with us, . . . but let not God speak with us . . . .\u201d We show how little love we have for God by preferring to listen to His servants rather than to Him. We like to listen to personal testimonies, but we don\u2019t want God Himself to speak to us. Why are we so terrified for God to speak to us? It is because we know that when God speaks we must either do what He asks or tell Him we will not obey. But if it is simply one of God\u2019s servants speaking to us, we feel obedience is optional, not imperative. We respond by saying, \u201cWell, that\u2019s only your own idea, even though I don\u2019t deny that what you said is probably God\u2019s truth.\u201dAm I constantly humiliating God by ignoring Him, while He lovingly continues to treat me as His child? Once I finally do hear Him, the humiliation I have heaped on Him returns to me. My response then becomes, \u201cLord, why was I so insensitive and obstinate?\u201d This is always the result once we hear God. But our real delight in finally hearing Him is tempered with the shame we feel for having taken so long to do so.<\/p>\n<p>_________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">February 12, 2014-JDV<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Lord, thank you for the reminder from the song that all you ever wanted was my heart.\u00a0 It is interesting that we think You really want us to perform; do the right things, be a better person, but You never really called on us to perform, or do the right things. You simply called on us to love You with all of our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves.\u00a0 Thank you for the reminder that all you ever want is my heart. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God says\u2026\u201d<i>I asked for the hearts of the Israelites when they were in the desert, and they asked for rules. It is all I want from you \u2026.. your heart.
