{"id":10861,"date":"2014-02-26T09:33:35","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T14:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/?p=10861"},"modified":"2014-02-26T11:07:13","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T16:07:13","slug":"our-misgivings-about-jesus-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/?p=10861","title":{"rendered":"Our Misgivings About Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The woman said to Him, \u2019Sir, You have nothing to draw [water] with, and the well is deep\u2019 \u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=31&amp;search=John+4%3A11\" target=\"_blank\">John 4:11<\/a><\/h1>\n<p><!-- .entry-meta --> <!-- .entry-header --><\/p>\n<section>\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yQsRKCH59qw\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nHave you ever said to yourself, \u201cI am impressed with the wonderful truths of God\u2019s Word, but He can\u2019t really expect me to live up to that and work all those details into my life!\u201d When it comes to confronting Jesus Christ on the basis of His qualities and abilities, our attitudes reflect religious superiority. We think His ideals are lofty and they impress us, but we believe He is not in touch with reality\u2014 that what He says cannot actually be done. Each of us thinks this about Jesus in one area of our life or another. These doubts or misgivings about Jesus begin as we consider questions that divert our focus away from God. While we talk of our dealings with Him, others ask us, \u201cWhere are you going to get enough money to live? How will you live and who will take care of you?\u201d Or our misgivings begin within ourselves when we tell Jesus that our circumstances are just a little too difficult for Him. We say, \u201cIt\u2019s easy to say, \u2019Trust in the Lord,\u2019 but a person has to live; and besides, Jesus has nothing with which to draw water\u2014 no means to be able to give us these things.\u201d And beware of exhibiting religious deceit by saying, \u201cOh, I have no misgivings about Jesus, only misgivings about myself.\u201d If we are honest, we will admit that we never have misgivings or doubts about ourselves, because we know exactly what we are capable or incapable of doing. But we do have misgivings about Jesus. And our pride is hurt even at the thought that He can do what we can\u2019t.My misgivings arise from the fact that I search within to find how He will do what He says. My doubts spring from the depths of my own inferiority. If I detect these misgivings in myself, I should bring them into the light and confess them openly\u2014 \u201cLord, I have had misgivings about You. I have not believed in Your abilities, but only my own. And I have not believed in Your almighty power apart from my finite understanding of it.\u201d____________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">February 26, 2014-JDV<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Lord, I press on even though I don\u2019t get it. I press on trusting You are still working on me, and you do not keep score. You do not count the number of times I trust myself instead of You, or the number of times I simply get it wrong. I am so thankful that You do not see my failures and imperfection. Thank You for seeing Jesus and His perfection when you look at me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And God says\u2026\u201d<i>Jesus is the way we are connected.\u00a0 When you give up your own ideas of how to live and give it to Jesus, you can be connected to Me. And then I can guide your steps. Acknowledge Me in all your ways, do not rely on your own ways and means, and I will make your paths straight. It is a very good thing\u00a0when your hopes and vision for your life are so grand that you absolutely know that they can never be realized apart from Me.
