Our Lord never put His trust in any person. Yet He was never suspicious, never bitter, and never lost hope for anyone, because He put His trust in God first. He trusted absolutely in what God\u2019s grace could do for others. If I put my trust in human beings first, the end result will be my despair and hopelessness toward everyone. I will become bitter because I have insisted that people be what no person can ever be\u2014 absolutely perfect and right. Never trust anything in yourself or in anyone else, except the grace of God.<\/p>\n<p>Put God\u2019s Will First. \u201cBehold, I have come to do Your will, O God\u201d (Hebrews 10:9).<\/p>\n<p>A person\u2019s obedience is to what he sees to be a need\u2014 our Lord\u2019s obedience was to the will of His Father. The rallying cry today is, \u201cWe must get to work! The heathen are dying without God. We must go and tell them about Him.\u201d But we must first make sure that God\u2019s \u201cneeds\u201d and His will in us personally are being met. Jesus said, \u201c\u2026tarry\u2026until you are endued with power from on high\u201d (Luke 24:49). The purpose of our Christian training is to get us into the right relationship to the \u201cneeds\u201d of God and His will. Once God\u2019s \u201cneeds\u201d in us have been met, He will open the way for us to accomplish His will, meeting His \u201cneeds\u201d elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Put God\u2019s Son First. \u201cWhoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me\u201d (Matthew 18:5).<\/p>\n<p>God came as a baby, giving and entrusting Himself to me. He expects my personal life to be a \u201cBethlehem.\u201d Am I allowing my natural life to be slowly transformed by the indwelling life of the Son of God? God\u2019s ultimate purpose is that His Son might be exhibited in me.<\/p>\n<p>_____________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>Journal DJR<br \/>\nGood Morning Lord, To think about your &#8220;needs&#8221; is a little different. I don&#8217;t think of you as needy. But, as happens many times with Oswald Chambers, the last paragraph summarizes the allegory and metaphor used earlier. My life being a &#8220;Bethlehem&#8221; is interesting, but the take-away today is, my natural life being slowly transformed by the indwelling life of the Son of God&#8230;God\u2019s ultimate purpose&#8230; that His Son might be exhibited in me. Chambers doesn&#8217;t say how that is to be done today, but you&#8217;ve been teaching us that it happens through connection, surrender, obedience, curiosity, and living expectantly. So thank you for the list of ingredients. But we still need your empowerment&#8230; to put the list together and to actually do those things on the list.<\/p>\n<p><em>You are correct in that. Without my empowering Spirit, you only have a new list of things to strive for. That&#8217;s religion. Pharisees did a lot of that. So come to me, stay connected and I will lead you in all these things and you won&#8217;t have to strive. If you want to strive, because it&#8217;s built into you&#8230;. Strive only to maintain connection with me, and then just live out of what I show you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT) Then Jesus said, \u201cCome to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you.
