Once again I am struck by the absolute perfect timing of the daily\u00a0devotional. This Oswald Chambers’ devotional speaks directly to\u00a0an issue that has been rolling around in my mind and heart; if I am connected to God in an intimate daily relationship through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, then why do I need to feel the “comfort” or feel \u00a0the illusion of control? Why do I need to actually know the money is there first? Why do I need to know that the business problem is handled the way I want? Why do I need to know in advance what I cannot possibly know if I am to walk in faith and be blessed? <\/em><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
This devotional spoke right to the thoughts I was carrying yesterday and today……And my conclusion is that I do not need to know and I do not need to feel “in control”. I simply need to trust and obey……and watch God move in my life…\u00a0JDV (David is in Europe on vacation)<\/em><\/div>\n

Are you obsessed by something? You will probably say, \u201cNo, by nothing,\u201d but all of us are obsessed by something\u2014 usually by ourselves, or, if we are Christians, by our own experience of the Christian life. But the psalmist says that we are to be obsessed by God. The abiding awareness of the Christian life is to be God Himself, not just thoughts about Him. The total being of our life inside and out is to be absolutely obsessed by the presence of God. A child\u2019s awareness is so absorbed in his mother that although he is not consciously thinking of her, when a problem arises, the abiding relationship is that with the mother. In that same way, we are to \u201clive and move and have our being\u201d in God (\u00a0Acts 17:28<\/a> \u00a0), looking at everything in relation to Him, because our abiding awareness of Him continually pushes itself to the forefront of our lives.<\/p>\n

If we are obsessed by God, nothing else can get into our lives\u2014 not concerns, nor tribulation, nor worries. And now we understand why our Lord so emphasized the sin of worrying. How can we dare to be so absolutely unbelieving when God totally surrounds us? To be obsessed by God is to have an effective barricade against all the assaults of the enemy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe himself shall dwell in prosperity . . .\u201d (\u00a0Psalm 25:13<\/a>\u00a0). God will cause us to \u201cdwell in prosperity,\u201d keeping us at ease, even in the midst of tribulation, misunderstanding, and slander, if our \u201clife is hidden with Christ in God\u201d (Colossians 3:3<\/a>). We rob ourselves of the miraculous, revealed truth of this abiding companionship with God. \u201cGod is our refuge . . .\u201d (\u00a0Psalm 46:1<\/a> \u00a0).
