My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him \u2014Hebrews 12:5<\/a><\/div>\n

It is very easy to grieve the Spirit of God; we do it by despising the discipline of the Lord, or by becoming discouraged when He rebukes us. If our experience of being set apart from sin and being made holy through the process of sanctification is still very shallow, we tend to mistake the reality of God for something else. \"\"<\/a>And when the Spirit of God gives us a sense of warning or restraint, we are apt to say mistakenly, \u201cOh, that must be from the devil.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not quench the Spirit\u201d (\u00a01 Thessalonians 5:19<\/a> ), and do not despise Him when He says to you, in effect, \u201cDon\u2019t be blind on this point anymore\u2014 you are not as far along spiritually as you thought you were. Until now I have not been able to reveal this to you, but I\u2019m revealing it to you right now.\u201d When the Lord disciplines you like that, let Him have His way with you. Allow Him to put you into a right-standing relationship before God.<\/p>\n

\u201c. . . nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him.\u201d We begin to pout, become irritated with God, and then say, \u201cOh well, I can\u2019t help it. I prayed and things didn\u2019t turn out right anyway. So I\u2019m simply going to give up on everything.\u201d Just think what would happen if we acted like this in any other area of our lives!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Am I fully prepared to allow God to grip me by His power and do a work in me that is truly worthy of Himself? Sanctification is not my idea of what I want God to do for me\u2014 sanctification is God\u2019s idea of what He wants to do for me. But He has to get me into the state of mind and spirit where I will allow Him to sanctify me completely, whatever the cost (see\u00a01 Thessalonians 5:23-24<\/a> ).<\/p>\n

I sometimes feel like the actor in the movie, Fireproof,<\/em> waiting on the Lord. Waiting for a response to my hopes and prayers, I know I am growing but sometimes I feel discomforted wondering when God will respond, or even IF He will respond. I know that His answers are yes, no and later and only He can see the best outcome. I want to be patient and wait, but sometimes it feels like all the circumstances are closing in around me\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

And God says\u2026\u201dWaiting in this life is a very important part of obedience. When you wait upon the Lord you are being faithful to my direction. I will strengthen you when you wait, I will give you the power and courage to wait, and I will give you peace and joy inside the waiting. Do not try and get out of your trials too early; let your patience have time to do the work in you. Look back over your life, have I ever let you down? It may not have turned out the way you planned, but your circumstances did not overwhelm you.<\/em><\/p>\n

Take heart, and remember I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.<\/em>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
