How many of us are expecting Jesus Christ to quench our thirst when we should be satisfying Him! We should be pouring out our lives, investing our total beings, not drawing on Him to satisfy us. \u201cYou shall be witnesses to Me . . .\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+1:8\">Acts 1:8<\/a>). That means lives of pure, uncompromising, and unrestrained devotion to the Lord Jesus, which will be satisfying to Him wherever He may send us.<\/p>\n<p>Beware of anything that competes with your loyalty to Jesus Christ. <strong>The greatest competitor of true devotion to Jesus is the service we do for Him.<\/strong> It is easier to serve than to pour out our lives completely for Him. The goal of the call of God is His satisfaction, not simply that we should do something\u00a0<em>for<\/em>\u00a0Him. We are not sent to do battle for God, but to be used by God in His battles.<strong> Are we more devoted to service than we are to Jesus Christ Himself?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Journal DJR<\/p>\n<p>Good morning Lord. \u00a0 It does seem easier to get involved in service than relationship. \u00a0 It&#8217;s true on the human level as well as with you. \u00a0 Service can actually numb the pain of lack of relationship. \u00a0 But what Oswald said about needing to ensure your pleasure seems only half of the story &#8230; one side of the coin &#8230; true, but not complete.<\/p>\n<p><em>Yes, of course, there is another side. \u00a0When you go all out for me, you receive more from me than if you had just tried to get fulfillment. \u00a0Remember you can&#8217;t out give me. \u00a0The more you give, the more you will receive \u00a0 &#8230; unless you are trying to formularize it. \u00a0Then it won&#8217;t work.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Thomas answered and said to Him, \u2019My Lord and my God!\u2019 \u2014John 20:28 Jesus said to her, \u2019Give Me a drink\u2019 \u201d (John 4:7).
