{"id":6087,"date":"2012-01-19T06:18:46","date_gmt":"2012-01-19T14:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/wordpress\/?p=6087"},"modified":"2012-01-19T06:52:12","modified_gmt":"2012-01-19T14:52:12","slug":"vision-and-darkness-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/?p=6087","title":{"rendered":"Vision and Darkness"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him \u2014Genesis 15:12<\/h2>\n<div>\n<div id=\"post-1082\">\n<div>\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/50ygAc2qP5A\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nWhenever God gives a vision to a Christian, it is as if He puts him in \u201cthe shadow of His hand\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+49:2\">Isaiah 49:2<\/a>). The saint\u2019s duty is to be still and listen. There is a \u201cdarkness\u201d that comes from too much light-that is the time to listen. The story of Abram and Hagar in Genesis 16 is an excellent example of listening to so-called good advice during a time of darkness, rather than waiting for God to send the light. When God gives you a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will bring the vision He has given you to reality in your life if you will wait on His timing. Never try to help God fulfill His word. Abram went through thirteen years of silence, but in those years all of his self-sufficiency was destroyed. He grew past the point of relying on his own common sense. Those years of silence were a time of discipline, not a period of God\u2019s displeasure. There is never any need to pretend that your life is filled with joy and confidence; just wait upon God and be grounded in Him (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+50:10-11\">Isaiah 50:10-11<\/a>).Do I trust at all in the flesh? Or have I learned to go beyond all confidence in myself and other people of God? Do I trust in books and prayers or other joys in my life? Or have I placed my confidence in God <em>Himself<\/em>, not in His blessings? \u201cI am Almighty God . . .\u201d\u2014 El-Shaddai, the All-Powerful God (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Genesis+17:1\">Genesis 17:1<\/a>). The reason we are all being disciplined is that we will know God is real. As soon as God becomes real to us, people pale by comparison, becoming shadows of reality. Nothing that other saints do or say can ever upset the one who is built on God.<\/div>\n<div>____________________________________________<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>January 19, 2011<\/p>\n<p>Journal Entry for Today-JDV<\/p>\n<p>Lord, how do I know that it is a vision from You and not\u00a0 just the sound of my own voice and my own wants and needs? Lord, I want to wait\u00a0 on You and wait for what You have in store, and will as long as I am certain\u00a0 that the vision is from You.<\/p>\n<p><em>And God says\u2026\u201dYour\u00a0 uncertainty is found inside your own mind and feelings. Your certainty is fed\u00a0 by My word, My Spirit and prayer. Notice that when you pray without ceasing and\u00a0 seek Jesus your uncertainty is gone; sometimes replaced by a definitive vision,\u00a0 sometimes\u00a0replaced with simply knowing you are right where you are\u00a0 supposed to be. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your\u00a0 own devices and I will make all your paths straight.
