{"id":8256,"date":"2013-02-26T08:32:01","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T16:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/wordpress\/?p=8256"},"modified":"2013-02-26T08:40:24","modified_gmt":"2013-02-26T16:40:24","slug":"our-misgivings-about-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/co2mannatoday.com\/?p=8256","title":{"rendered":"Our Misgivings About Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The woman said to Him, \u2019Sir, You have nothing to draw [water] with, and the<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>well is deep\u2019 \u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=31&amp;search=John+4%3A11\" target=\"_blank\">John 4:11<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U3TPq8ZSvTk\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"620\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Have you ever said to yourself, \u201cI am impressed with the wonderful truths of<br \/>\nGod\u2019s Word, but He can\u2019t really expect me to live up to that and work all those<br \/>\ndetails into my life!\u201d When it comes to confronting Jesus Christ on the basis<br \/>\nof His qualities and abilities, our attitudes reflect religious superiority. We<br \/>\nthink His ideals are lofty and they impress us, but we believe He is not in<br \/>\ntouch with reality\u2014 that what He says cannot actually be done. Each of us<br \/>\nthinks this about Jesus in one area of our life or another. These doubts or<br \/>\nmisgivings about Jesus begin as we consider questions that divert our focus<br \/>\naway from God. While we talk of our dealings with Him, others ask us, \u201cWhere<br \/>\nare you going to get enough money to live? How will you live and who will take<br \/>\ncare of you?\u201d Or our misgivings begin within ourselves when we tell Jesus that<br \/>\nour circumstances are just a little too difficult for Him. We say, \u201cIt\u2019s easy<br \/>\nto say, \u2019Trust in the Lord,\u2019 but a person has to live; and besides, Jesus has<br \/>\nnothing with which to draw water\u2014 no means to be able to give us these things.\u201d<br \/>\nAnd beware of exhibiting religious deceit by saying, \u201cOh, I have no misgivings<br \/>\nabout Jesus, only misgivings about myself.\u201d If we are honest, we will admit<br \/>\nthat we never have misgivings or doubts about ourselves, because we know<br \/>\nexactly what we are capable or incapable of doing. But we do have misgivings<br \/>\nabout Jesus. And our pride is hurt even at the thought that He can do what we<br \/>\ncan\u2019t.<\/p>\n<section>My misgivings arise from the fact that I search within to find how He will<br \/>\ndo what He says. My doubts spring from the depths of my own inferiority. If I<br \/>\ndetect these misgivings in myself, I should bring them into the light and<br \/>\nconfess them openly\u2014 \u201cLord, I have had misgivings about You. I have not<br \/>\nbelieved in Your abilities, but only my own.
