Each thing of the universe had its very roots in this realm.<\/em>\u00a0\u2014Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry [1]<\/p>\n<p><em>There is only Christ.\u00a0He is everything and he is in everything.<\/em>\u00a0\u2014Colossians 3:11<\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, a Roman Catholic priest first proposed the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe. In 1927, Georges Lema\u00eetre, a Belgian priest, astronomer, and physics professor, suggested that the expanding universe might be traced back to a single point of origin, a singularity. As Ilia Delio describes, \u201c[It] appeared like a little quantum size blip on the screen [<em>creatio ex<\/em>\u00a0<em>nihilo<\/em>] and inflated rapidly like a balloon and since that time, it has been expanding.\u201d [2] I\u2019ll let Delio, a scientist, explain the implications for this cosmology\u2014our story of the universe:<\/p>\n<p>Every human person desires to love and to be loved, to belong to another, because we come from another. We are born social and relational. We yearn to belong, to be part of a larger whole that includes not only friends and family but neighbors, community, trees, flowers, sun, Earth, stars. We are born of nature and are part of nature; that is, we are born into a web of life and are part of a web of life. We cannot know what this means, however, without seeing ourselves within the story of the Big Bang universe. Human life must be traced back to the time when life was deeply one, a Singularity, whereby the intensity of mass-energy exploded into consciousness. Deep in our DNA we belong to the stars, the trees, and the galaxies.<\/p>\n<p>Deep within we long for unity because, at the most fundamental level,\u00a0<em>we are<\/em>\u00a0<em>already one<\/em>. We belong to one another because we have the same source of love; the love that flows through the trees is the same love that flows through my being. . . . We are deeply connected in this flow of love, beginning on the level of nature where we are the closest of kin because the Earth is our mother. [3]<\/p>\n<p>We began as one and our goal is oneness. Studying evolution, the French Jesuit Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955) found\u00a0<em>that increased complexity and increased consciousness surprisingly lead to greater unity at a much higher level\u2014which we would call love.<\/em>\u00a0Unity is not the same as uniformity! With increased complexity, there is actually greater diversity and a greater enjoyment of that very diversity, which is the fruit of love. As Teilhard\u00a0said, \u201cEverything that rises must converge.\u201d [4] We are in the midst of that convergence today\u2014and seemingly at an accelerated pace\u2014both in terms of good and resistance to the good.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gateway to Silence:<br \/>\n<\/strong>We live, move, and have our being in love.<\/p>\n<p>_______________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>By <a href=\"https:\/\/utmost.org\/oswald-chambers-bio\">Oswald Chambers<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><!-- \/.col-12 --> <!-- \/.row --><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\u00a0<strong>Without faith it is impossible to please Him\u2026 \u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=31&amp;search=Hebrews+11%3A6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hebrews 11:6<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"top-rule\"><\/div>\n<section class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>Faith in active opposition to common sense is mistaken enthusiasm and narrow-mindedness, and common sense in opposition to faith demonstrates a mistaken reliance on reason as the basis for truth. The life of faith brings the two of these into the proper relationship. Common sense and faith are as different from each other as the natural life is from the spiritual, and as impulsiveness is from inspiration. Nothing that Jesus Christ ever said is common sense, but is revelation sense, and is complete, whereas common sense falls short. Yet faith must be tested and tried before it becomes real in your life. \u201cWe know that all things work together for good\u2026\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+8:28\">Romans 8:28<\/a>) so that no matter what happens, the transforming power of God\u2019s providence transforms perfect faith into reality. Faith always works in a personal way, because the purpose of God is to see that perfect faith is made real in His children.<\/p>\n<p>For every detail of common sense in life, there is a truth God has revealed by which we can prove in our practical experience what we believe God to be. Faith is a tremendously active principle that always puts Jesus Christ first. The life of faith says, \u201cLord, You have said it, it appears to be irrational, but I\u2019m going to step out boldly, trusting in Your Word\u201d (for example, see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+6:33\">Matthew 6:33<\/a>). Turning intellectual faith into our personal possession is <em>always<\/em> a fight, not just sometimes. God brings us into particular circumstances to educate our faith, because the nature of faith is to make the object of our faith very real to us. Until we know Jesus, God is merely a concept, and we can\u2019t have faith in Him. But once we hear Jesus say, \u201cHe who has seen Me has seen the Father\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+14:9\">John 14:9<\/a>) we immediately have something that is real, and our faith is limitless.
