Is there a remnant of reliance left on any natural quality within you, or on any particular set of circumstances? Are you relying on yourself in any manner whatsoever regarding this new proposal or plan which God has placed before you? Will you examine yourself by asking these probing questions? It really is true to say, \u201cI cannot live a holy life,\u201d but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy. \u201cYou cannot serve the Lord . . .\u201d\u2014 but you can place yourself in the proper position where God\u2019s almighty power will flow through you. Is your relationship with God sufficient for you to expect Him to exhibit His wonderful life in you?<\/section>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cThe people said to Joshua, \u2019No, but we will serve the Lord!\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Joshua+24:21\">Joshua 24:21<\/a>). This is not an impulsive action, but a deliberate commitment. We tend to say, \u201cBut God could never have called <em>me<\/em> to this. I\u2019m too unworthy. It can\u2019t mean <em>me<\/em>.\u201d It does mean you, and the more weak and feeble you are, the better. The person who is still relying and trusting in anything within himself is the last person to even come close to saying, \u201cI will serve the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We say, \u201cOh, if only I really could believe!\u201d The question is, \u201c<em>Will<\/em> I believe?\u201d No wonder Jesus Christ placed such emphasis on the sin of unbelief. \u201cHe did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+13:58\">Matthew 13:58<\/a>). If we really believed that God meant what He said, just imagine what we would be like! Do I really dare to let God be to me all that He says He will be?<\/p>\n<p>_________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>July 9<sup>th<\/sup> 2012<\/p>\n<p>Journal Entry for Today-JDV<\/p>\n<p>In the past whenever I was asked, by myself or another person to examine myself, I would immediately look inside to see if I \u201cmeasured up\u201d. And given my propensity for sin and spiritual failure, would immediately get defensive about my Christian performance. If I was a real Christian then I would be more like Jesus. And then You showed me Lord, that I was and am unable to be more like Jesus until and unless I surrendered my own efforts. I had to actually give up my own internal war and just let You be Lord. I had to surrender. Well, Lord, once again this morning I surrender and ask You to live through me this day.<\/p>\n<p><em>And God says\u2026\u201d Even your most \u201cspiritual ways\u201d are not My ways. You can never \u201cmeasure up\u201d, and because you can never \u201cmeasure up\u201d I sent Jesus. He can and will always measure up, regardless of the situation or circumstance. When you look to Jesus for all that you want or need, you begin to notice a transformation in your life\u00a0 surrounding those wants and needs and desires that used to provide your driving\u00a0 force and motivation. Your own wants, needs and desires are replaced over time\u00a0 as you look to Jesus. Do not look at your failures, successes or your goals; look\u00a0 to Jesus. Do not look for a vision or a sign, even evidence of His working, simply look to Jesus. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not rely on your understanding and He will make your paths straight.
