The Glory That’s Unsurpassed

. . . the Lord Jesus . . . has sent me that you may receive your sight . . . —Acts 9:17

When Paul received his sight, he also received spiritual insight into the Person of Jesus Christ. His entire life and preaching from that point on were totally consumed with nothing but Jesus Christ— “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). Paul never again allowed anything to attract and hold the attention of his mind and soul except the face of Jesus Christ. We must learn to maintain a strong degree of character in our lives, even to the level that has been revealed in our vision of Jesus Christ. The lasting characteristic of a spiritual man is the ability to understand correctly the meaning of the Lord Jesus Christ in his life, and the ability to explain the purposes of God to others. The overruling passion of his life is Jesus Christ. Whenever you see this quality in a person, you get the feeling that he is truly a man after God’s own heart (see Acts 13:22).Never allow anything to divert you from your insight into Jesus Christ. It is the true test of whether you are spiritual or not. To be unspiritual means that other things have a growing fascination for you. Since mine eyes have looked on Jesus, I’ve lost sight of all beside, So enchained my spirit’s vision, Gazing on the Crucified.__________________________________________April 2, 2012Journal Entry for Today-JDV

Lord, thank You for the reality check…for the reminder that  my very best day in this world is the day, hour and minutes that I am absolutely  and positively connected to Jesus. Thank You for continuing to guide me past  the rules and guidelines that I thought were part and parcel of our  relationship. Thank you for demonstrating over and over again, your  forgiveness, love and grace.

And God says…”You have begun to understand that I do not  want you following rules. I do not want you measuring yourself against a set of  guidelines that simply demonstrate your inability to be “good enough”. I gave  you my Son and the love, mercy and grace He embodies so that you would  experience life and life more abundantly knowing that if I loved you enough to  give you my only Son, I will surely not withhold any good thing from you…including unlimited grace and mercy. Be  connected to Jesus and be transformed and whole in our relationship, living in freedom from rules, alive in My love, mercy and grace.”

Good morning, Lord. What I hear out of today’s devo is another “Upside Down-ism” that your Kingdom seems to run on. Instead of seeing How much I can get … Strive to see how much I can give.
Yes my kingdom seems upside down to you. But consider that my way is really right side up and the way of the world since humanity fell from the perfect way that I created them … that is really upside down.
It makes perfect sense, when we are here talking about it. But it’s so easy to fall back into thinking like the world.
It’s true. You are hard wired to think that way and you have decades of practice. Note Paul’s “determination” to think My Way. Also that verse in Hebrews … making straight paths for your feet can be a reminder to get your thinking inverted and keep it that way. You don’t need check lists. They are OK, as long as item #1 is checking your connection with Me. Then we’ll take care of the rest of the list…
